Letter Series Involving Multiple Series

Letter series is an arrangement of letters of English alphabet arranged in a specified pattern. There are some questions which contain multiple series in the same question. Lets view some solved examples on this concept:

Illustration 1: What will come in place of the question mark (?) in the following series?

Z, L, X, J, V, H, T, F, ?, ?

A.      R, D                      B.    R, E                   C.     S, E                  D.     Q, D

Answer: A

Solution:   The given sequence contains two series:

  • Series 1:    Z, X, V, T, ?  In reverse order , we have Z, skip Y, then we have X, again skip W, we have V and so on. The answer to series 1 is R.
  • Series 2 :  L, J, H, F, ? ,  In reverse order , we have L, skip K, then we have J, again skip I, we have H and so on. The answer to series 2 is D.
  • Both these series contain alternate letters in the reverse order. The answer is A option.
  • Illustration: Find the missing term in the given series :  ABP, CDQ, EFR, ?

    A.  GHS        B.    GHT        C.   HGS        D.    GHR

    Answer: A

    Solution:  (a) The given series is a combination of three series.

  • Series 1 :   A, C, E, ? 
  • Series 2  :  B, D, F, ?
  • Series 3 :   P, Q, R, ?
  • Now,

    Hence, the missing term is GHS, which is option A.
